Taken from the same spot at the beach in Colombo – looking North and then South.
North is the Galle Face Green with the security post in the near ground and the BOC and World Trade buildings in the distance.
South is the security tower for the Indian Embassy, overlooking the swimming pool of it’s neighbours, The Galle Face Hotel.
Luckily, not all of the beaches in Sri Lanka are like this and a few hours driving South will give you some stunning places to swim.
I was told last week when I was there that the security stops on the road are now being taken down in the country and I hope that the towers along the coast can also be dismantled and the coast line made to look beautiful again and not just somewhere to dump rubbish.
